i saw this woman several times at kensington market, and thought she looked interesting. this was the last shot of the last roll i had with me, and i had my camera aimed at her while she was walking toward me. i was trying to be nonchalant about it, but i guess it's hard not to notice when there's a camera trained on you. just as i was about to click the shutter, she stuck out her tongue at me. the timing couldn't have been better.
i'm pretty happy with this.
you should be SO happy with it! this reminds me of all of that really fantastic sixties street voyeur photography, the stuff that captures the personality of the subject but doesn't compromise composition and other essentials of photography for one person. THis image is exceptionally well composed, well contrasted and interesting, and her cute contribution almost makes it more of a fun interaction. Something of this caliber is hard to get posed, so the fact that you did it so well off the cuff is all the more praiseworthy
